Check out the Secretary of State's site for a searchable list of Illinois Civil War Soldiers. It lists Regiment and Company.
These list only the men believed to be from Marion County, not the complete regimental roster.
39th Illinois Infantry Partial listing
Men of the 40th Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry This site was sent in by Carol Lee Yarbrough. It is a complete list...giving the Name, County, Rank, Age, Place of Birth, Physical Description, marital status, Occupation, etc. where available.
