I am seeking information about the family of Richard MATTINGLY (about 1819-1873) and Elizabeth DANIELS MATTINGLY (1816-1892), who lived in Salem, Marion Co, IL in the early 1800's. COREY, John and COREY, Asher Wilford. John COREY is the father of Asher Wilford COREY. Asher was born 1852 in Marion County, Ohio. This info is from family tradition only, no record of proof of birth. A probate record shows John died in Marion County, Illinois in the "spring of 1879" but the probate record is recorded in January 1897. So the death date may be 1897. I need something more reliable to prove the death date. Also, I need the mother of Asher. Seems I've searched forever for this info. I will be most appreciative of any help on this!

Who was the father of James Monroe Swift who lived in Marion County in the 1800's? Was he related to my great-grandfather James Monroe Swift who lived in Jefferson County? To further complicate things, my Jefferson County James Monroe Swift's son, Alfred Ettis Swift, married the Marion County James Monroe Swift's step-daughter, Dosha S. Greene. I think there has to be a family connection but I cannot prove anything. I suspect the two James Monroe Swifts were Uncle and Nephew. Can anyone help?

I am searching for the identity of Mrs. M.M. DALTON. She was shown as the "parent or guardian" on my ggrandfather's Spanish-American War papers in 1898. She was living in Centralia. My ggrandfather was James A. LOVETT, b. 1875 in Ohio. His father was Conrad LOVETT and his mother was Sarah Elizabeth POWERS. They divorced and the children were sent away. James was sent to Illinois, although I'm not sure if it was to Centralia, originally. I do not know were James's sister Eva "Minnie" was sent or what ever happened to her. Conrad Lovett married again in 1889 to Evaline Mays and Sarahs last husband was Alva Warrells. Family stories say that Conrad may have been "adopted" by LOVETT's and his name may have orginally been DALTON or RAYBURN, so perhaps Mrs. DALTON was more than a guardian, she could have been a relative. I have been stuck on this particular branch for many years and I would really, really appreciate any info!!! Thanks!!
